I'm Simone Maria Parazzoli, happy to see you here.

I help governments make the most of technology to improve everyone's life.

I like simple sentences, quick iterative improvements, and making music.

ABOUT

I'm currently building The Agentic State — rethinking government for the Agentic AI era.

Before this, I was at the OECD writing Governing with AI, on global uses of AI in the public sector, and helping governments transform their civic participation efforts with technology, mainly LLMs. At the OECD, I also co-authored the last two editions of the Global Trends in Government Innovation (2023, 2024).

Previously, I was a Fellow at the ISI Foundation, where I did social data science research with physicists of complex systems, developing AI/NLP pipelines to assess public acceptability of policy reforms. Earlier, I was an Intern at the OECD Observatory of Public Sector Innovation (OPSI). I was a Consultant for the Digital Policy Alert (DPA). I was a Research Assistant for Michela Carlana (Harvard Kennedy School) and Eliana la Ferrara (Bocconi University) at LEAP.

EDUCATION

I graduated cum laude at Bocconi University (2023) and Sciences Po (2022), in the Double Degree Master's in Public Policy. That's a long name to say that I spent one year in Milan and one year in Paris, and I was formally a student of both universities. For Bocconi, I wrote my thesis on algorithmic accountability in the public sector under the supervision of Prof. Oreste Pollicino, which I was invited to present at Data for Policy 2024.

In 2020, I received my Bachelor's degree cum laude in Political Science from the University of Bologna, with a thesis in microeconomics on positional goods (a fascinating topic, find out more here). During my BA, I spent one semester at the University of Utrecht supported by an Erasmus+ scholarship.
